International Baccalaureate
Shu Ren International School is proud to carry the designation as an International Baccalaureate World School in Berkeley, CA. We are the only early childhood and elementary school in the San Francisco Bay Area to offer both a Chinese Mandarin immersion education and also the International Baccalaureate (IB) World School’s IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 3 - 12.
Experiential Learning
Experiential learning and curriculum is an essential component of making the IB and Mandarin immersion environment come alive for our students and their families. We define experiential learning as any opportunity for students to link their classroom lessons, knowledge, and skills with events, individuals, or experiences outside of the traditional classroom format.
We take pride in preparing our students to navigate a complex international world with extensive lessons in communication, academics, and technology. For children Grades 3 and up, we have a 1 to 1 Chromebook program where students learn important computer skills via the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum model.
Academic Outcomes
At Shu Ren International schools, our goal is for students to become life long learners who are motivated to seek answers to probing questions on their own beyond our schoolwide learner outcomes guide. Our approach to learning and life at Shu Ren and our curriculum lay the groundwork for students to excel at all levels. Standardized tests like the MAP and STAMP Assessments show that Shu Ren Students outperform the national average at all elementary grade levels!
