Financial Aid

Shu Ren International School is continuously exploring ways in which we can fund need-based financial aid in order to achieve socioeconomic diversity. The financial aid priority deadline for the 2023-2024 school year is January 20, 2023. Families applying after the priority deadline can still apply.

Process

1. Complete and submit a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS).

To aid in evaluating the financial need of each family Shu Ren International School uses the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), an organization that provides need-based financial aid analysis to private and public schools nationwide, to process applications for tuition assistance. To begin the financial aid process, please visit SSS by NAIS’s website. During the application process you will be asked to provide Shu Ren’s school code: 4745.

Please note: In case of divorce or separation, both parents are required to complete the following steps in their entirety.

2. Submit supporting documents as specified in SSS.

The following documents must be submitted to SSS along with your financial aid application:

  • Each parent’s and/or contributing family member’s most recent past two years of tax returns 1040 with all filed schedules and attachments.*
  • Each parent’s and/or contributing family member’s most recent past two years of W2 forms.*

Please note: We do not require current year forms, we require the two previous tax year forms, i.e. for Fall 2023 Financial Aid application, we require your W-2 and 1040 Forms for 2021 and 2022 earnings. If 2022 information is not available by application deadline, please submit 2020 and 2020 W-2 and tax returns.

Policies

All financial aid is need-based. Admission decisions are made separately from financial aid decisions. However, we do understand that admissions decisions by parents may depend on the amount of financial aid received. Thus, we will always strive to provide you with an enrollment and financial aid decision at the same time.

Shu Ren International School will always strive to meet demonstrated need. However, due to limited financial aid funds, awards may only meet a portion of the need indicated by SSS. As with all other families, financial aid recipients are expected to pay the remaining portion of tuition by the stated deadlines within their enrollment contract. If the payments are delinquent the school may withdraw the financial aid and rescind admission to the school.

Families of students who have been admitted and have returned their contract with the required deposit, but who do not receive sufficient financial aid for their needs and do not wish to enroll as a result, will receive reimbursement of their deposit in full.

If you have any questions about your PFS or would like to check receipt and status of your supporting documentation, please email SSS by NAIS at sss@nais.org or call the SSS helpline at 1-800-344-8328. With other questions regarding financial aid with Shu Ren, please email us at admissions@shurenschool.org.
