World Book Week

Let’s celebrate our love for literature with World Book Week! During World Book Week, we encourage our Shu Ren students to share the joy of reading through learning more about the authors behind their books, working in reading workshops with fellow classmates, and expressing their love for books with fun creative activities. 

Monday 4/18 

Pre-K2 to Grade 1: Grade 2-5 students will read aloud to Pre-K2-Grade 1 students.

Grade 2 to Grade 5: Meet the Author – Danielle Mendonsa will meet with students via Zoom to discuss her book series, Bringing Financial Literacy into the Classroom and the Home. 

Tuesday 4/19 

Pre-K 2: Parent volunteers will read to the class and supervise crafting activities. 

Pre-K 3 to 4: Reading buddies – Students will partner up in pairs to read to one another.

K to Grade 5: Book Speed Promoting – Students will bring one of their favorite books to class and promote it to fellow students. 

Wednesday 4/20 

Dress as your book character day! All students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character to school as class photos will be taken throughout the day. Get to costume planning and have fun!

Thursday 4/21

Each class will decorate their doors in likeness of a Book cover or theme. Students will vote for their favorite doors and the two winning classes will receive a book of their choice to add to their class library collection.
